Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD)is a common disease, the prevalence of this disease in Taiwan is increasing gradually because of the westernized diet habit and the obesity. GERD can cause symptoms such as heart burn sensation, regurgitation and chest pain, and even causing complications such as Barrett's esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma. In the aeromedical environment, the anti-G suit and the flight training may exacerbate the reflux symptoms, and may endanger the flying safety. In this article, we gave a brief introduction to GERD. Then current ROC waiver guide (including civilian and military society) and United States military waiver guides on GERD were compared and discussed.
