The International Classification of Diseases is a standardized system that categorizes existing diseases. In 2008, The World Health Organization decided to include Traditional Medicine in Chapter 26, "Supplementary Chapter Traditional Medicine Conditions", of ICD-11. This article provides a comprehensive introduction to this ICD chapter, and further analyzes future influences it can have in the field of Chinese medicine in Taiwan through the integration of various research regarding terminology and disease classification, so that the medical field in Taiwan can implement this system to clinical and research purposes more efficiently once it is applicable.
