Food security has been a serious issue for most countries of the world especially for populous developing nations like India and China. Food is produced through agricultural activities and the health of agriculture, agriculturists and its various indicators hence becomes a parameter for determining food security. This paper tries to explore into various nuances of agriculture ranging from traditional indicators like availability of land, irrigation facilities, availability of labour, affordability and feasibility of technology to more contemporary ones like changing diet structures, effects of market, increasing industrialisation and urbanisation to GMO food debate. As both countries battle with their problems of farmer suicides, food wastage and extreme hunger, can food insecurity serve as 'food for thought' for the next World War is a question to ponder.
