摘要

銅鏡除了可當照容工具外，也是民間常見的厭勝物，據筆者研究結果，發現銅鏡的避邪功能，起源於銅鏡的原型「鑑」。鑑是祭祀時所使用的一種禮器，所盛之水可以可以去除不潔，故當鑑進一步扁平化爲鏡時，其去不祥的內涵也成爲鏡的用途之一。在今日的社會觀念，即使鏡子的材質已經被汞玻璃所取代，但是鏡子具有避邪的作用，依然廣爲人所熟悉。

In the ancient period, Chinese people often used mirrors to ward off evil. However, Chinese people used the pots full of water to reflect their face until mirrors were invented. In the beginning, this kind of pot was used to be a sacrificial utensils. The ancient Chinese people thought the water of the pot could ward off evil. For this reason, as the mirrors were invented to replace the pots, the ancient Chinese also take it for granted to use mirrors to ward off evil.
