背景：過敏性鼻炎的治療可使用藥物治療、冷凍療法、黏膜下鼻甲切除術、Nd-YAG雷射、KTP(potassium-titanyl phosphate)雷射、二氧化碳雷射等等。二氧化碳雷射止血功能佳，藉由光纖配合折射鏡能改變雷射角度下，能把下鼻甲黏膜適度燒灼。本研究主要探討使用二氧化碳雷射治療過敏性鼻炎之效果。方法：本研究從2001年1月至2002年9月間，選擇92名對於藥物反應不佳的過敏性鼻炎患者，接受二氧化碳雷射治療後評估其結果。其中男性49名，女姓43名，平均年齡為43.9歲，平均追蹤時間為13個月。結果：研究發現二氧化碳雷射手術對於過敏性鼻炎所造成的鼻塞症狀效果良好，有88.5%病患鼻塞症狀改善。有77%病患打噴嚏症狀改善，62.8%的病患流鼻涕症狀改善。所有病患術後並無出血狀況。結論：二氧化碳雷射治療過敏性鼻炎引起的鼻塞成效顯著，手術安排方便。術後不用填塞，減少病患痛苦。二氧化碳雷射手術是一個簡便又有效的治療方法。

Background: Various methods have been developed for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, including medication, cryotherapy, submucosal turbinectomy, ND-YAG laser, KTP (potassium-titanyl phosphate) laser and CO2 (carbon dioxide) laser. Among all surgical treatments, CO2 laser has the best hemostatic effect. CO2 laser can perform appropriate level of cauterization on the mucous membrane of the nasal inferior turbinates by coupling optical fiber with refractor to modify laser angles. This study will investigate the efficiency of CO2 laser as a treatment method for allergic rhinitis. Method: Starting from January of 2001 to September of 2002, this study recruited 92 allergic rhinitis patients, who had responded poorly to medication treatment, to receive CO2 laser treatment and determined the effects of the treatment. Among the 92 patients, 49 were male and 43 were female with an average age of 43.9 years old. The mean follow-up period lasted 13 months. Results: The study found that CO2 laser surgery had outstanding effect on improving the symptoms of nasal congestion caused by allergic rhinitis, where 88.5% of the patients had relief in their nasal congestion symptoms. Sneezing symptom was improved in 77% of the patients; whereas 62.8% of the patients had improvement in the symptom of nasal discharge. None of the patients experienced post-operation hemorrhage. Conclusion: 002 laser treatment has remarkable success in treating allergic rhinitis. The surgery can be managed easily; moreover, the painful post-operation nasal tamponade is unnecessary. Thus, CO2 laser surgery is a convenient and effective treatment for allergic rhinitis.
