According to the 2023 statistics from the World Health Organization, more than 55 million people have dementia globally, and the number of people with dementia continues to rise. Dementia has become a significant health issue of global concern. According to an analysis of the National Health Insurance Research Database, more than 40% of patients with dementia sought treatment from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM treatment could reduce the risk of dementia in patients with high blood pressure and major depression. The current article collects literature on common single Chinese medicines, formulae prescriptions, acupoints, and non-acupuncture/non-medicine treatments for dementia to provide a reference for the clinical treatment of dementia. Furthermore, spectral analysis of blood pressure waveforms also provides a preliminary, simple, and rapid screening for dementia that can be used as a basis for evaluating the treatment efficacy of dementia in the future.
