The study is on the material of N.V.Gogol's novel ”The Coat”. It analyzes the special features of time which is one of the important categories of narration in the literary theory. Special attention is paid to the duration of time, to the pauses of time, and also treats the sense of the concept, introduced by N.V. Gogol, ”eternal titular adviser”.
