歷來論者對於郁達夫《沉淪》的探究,泰半集中於「藝術的作品」抑或是「不道德的小說」的爭論之中,然而《沉淪》所呈現出來的意義,卻僅具有「道德與否」的辨證而已?是否仍有其他切入角度可以作為詮釋《沉淪》的新視角?因此,本文嘗試以「愛情」書寫意涵的角度出發,剖析郁達夫在《沉淪》的創作中如何運用「愛情」題材,表現個人生命的吟詠抒發,以及對國家命運的殷殷關切。透過本文的爬梳,發現郁達夫筆下〈銀灰色的死〉、〈沉淪〉與〈南遷〉中的「愛情」,不僅是個人生命依存的重要憑據,同時亦為表現國綱不振的感懷與憤懣。在兩相交織的書寫下,不但深刻的表現出郁達夫主觀抒情的創作特色,同時也將鉤沉並凸顯郁達夫小說創作,與當時五四主流,即強調社會層面的寫實觀照,所展現出來的「感時憂國」、「涕淚飄零」創作共相。
From the perspective of ”love,” this essay tries to examine the way Yu Ta-fu presents his feelings towards life and the deep concern for the country's future. Through analyzing the three short stories in Sinking, I found that for Yu, ”love” is not merely a spiritually supporting power, but also a reflection of his dissatisfaction with the nation's weakness and corruption. The two notions are interwoven in the novel, showing one of Yu's literary expressions featured as the subjective expression of emotions, and displaying a May Fourth writers' literary identity as the worry for the country's fate and the tear-stricken sense of homelessness.
