An analytical method for the determination of Ni-63 in nuclear waste was investigated. Ni-63 in nuclear waste samples was properly digested with acid, purified and separated from other interfering radionuclides with highly selective Ni Spec. resin. The activity concentration of Ni-63 was then measured by a liquid scintillation counter. Alternatively, the automated solid phase extraction system can be used to purify Ni-63 and the separation time can be effectively reduced. The chemical yield of the separation procedure can achieve more than 80%.
