The Discussion of Speed Related Interpreting Studies

速度與口譯研究之現況討論

摘要


Speed is often listed as the top challenge that student interpreters and professional interpreters face regularly. This paper studies past research studies on the topic of speed and its impact on interpreter's performance. The paper will first present the context of the research studies, modes of interpretation, participant groups, language combination, speed rates involved, and the manipulation of speed in order to provide a clear picture for discussion. Next, the paper will focus on three areas that can further enhance the results of the past research studies. The three areas include: assessment of student interpreters' performance, assessing professional interpreters through user expectations, and omission errors that can justified as strategy use. This paper hopes to bring in more discussion to the translation and interpretation research field.

速度是口譯員經常面臨的一大挑戰,本文將討論過去與速度相關之口譯研究,以期了解速度如何影響口譯員之表現,以及研究結果可以如何加強。本文將先呈現口譯的理論模型及口譯模式,接著陳述過往研究的大致內容、受試者族群、口譯語言組合、各篇研究使用之語料速度、操縱速度之方法等等,以提供進一步討論。接著,本文將藉由三大視角探討過往研究之分析結果,分別為:口譯學員之表現評估方法、口譯使用者對於專業口譯員之期待、以「口譯省略」為策略運用等三項,分析過往研究之不足及有待加強之處。本文期望能夠藉由評析文獻為口筆譯領域帶來更多討論。
