摘要
類風濕性關節炎（rheumatoid arthritis;RA）是一結締組織之慢性發炎性疾病，主要侵犯週邊的關節和其周圍的肌肉、肌腱、韌帶和血管，可造成關節功能逐漸喪失，甚而引起全身性症狀。類風濕性關節炎的發生率，國外統計約1～3％，女性約為男性的2～3倍，可發生於任何年齡，但30～60歲是女性發生率的高峰期。本文就中西醫不同角度來探討類風濕性關節炎的病因病理。

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the connective tissue which primarily attacks the muscles, tendons, blood vessels and ligaments surrounding the peripheral joints. This can eventually lead to gradual loss of joint function, and in extreme cases lead to systemic problems. The incidence of rheumatoid arthritis in countries outside Taiwan is approximately 1-3% of the population, with women 2-3 times more likely to develop the condition. It can affect people at any age; however, for women it is most common between the ages of 30 and 60. This article looks at both the Western and Chinese medicine perspectives of rheumatoid arthritis in order to better understand its etiology and pathology.
