A patient with low back pain (Bi syndrome) was diagnosed with sciatica resulted from bone spurs combined with spinal stenosis. Western medicine suggested operation as the best treatment. The patient was prescribed with steroid medication, muscle relaxant and painkillers to alleviate pain. The patient started to have side effects such as swollen face after taking medication with no significant pain relief. The patient went to department of Chinese medicine for help, and his symptoms have improved after TCM treatment.
