Western medicine treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca (dry eye) was not well handled. Anti-inflammatory drugs with antibiotics and artificial tears were common used to reduce symptoms. But the long-term efficacy of these drugs is getting worse. Therefore increasing number of patients seeks Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) treatment in Taiwan. This paper describes a treatment for a 39-year-old woman suffering from dry eye for several years. In this paper, we applied the theory of TCM for diagnosis and treatment of dry eye. The common concentrated Chinese medicine powders were used to control symptoms and improve the patient's quality of life. This article provides a good experience in treatment of dry eye.
