Japanese kendo and Chinese martial art are both rich in cultural depth and keep influencing the thought, attitude and social behavior of their society members. Through the survey and comparison of Chinese and Japanese published articles, there are four major conclusions in this paper. (1) Kendo is a byword of martial art. Instead of killing people the purpose of kendo is to remove the villains. (2) There are close interconnection between Japanese kendo and Chinese martial art in terms of training. (3) Zen is the center of the ideological system of Japanese kendo. (4) The education of Japanese samurai is a mixture of traditional Chinese Confucianism education and training of samurai fighting skills and tactics.
