Ingested foreign bodies or foodstuffs leading to obstruction of gastrointestinal tract are common, but duodenal bulb obstruction due to an impacted mushroom is unusual. We report an 83-year-old male presenting with a 2-day duration of postprandial epigastric fullness and vomiting after eating glutinous rice tamale. The patient underwent a duodenorrhaphy with omental patching for duodenal ulcer perforation 30 years previously. An upper gastrointestinal endoscopy done after nasogastric tube irrigation and aspiration revealed a 4.2 cm intact mushroom impacted in a deformed duodenal bulb. After removal of the impacted mushroom using a biopsy forceps, the patient remained asymptomatic and was discharged on the 5th hospital day.
