摘要
平路書寫過不少後現代小說，本文所探析的是其中有關台灣的後現代作品，包括〈驚夢曲〉、〈台灣奇蹟〉、〈島嶼的名字〉和〈虛擬台灣〉四篇。這些小說中有對台灣未來作科幻想像的，也有對當代台灣社會現象的模仿諷刺，均具有時事批判的寓言性質，寫作技巧也豐饒著後現代的趣味。〈驚夢曲〉是平路早年的科幻實驗作品，敘述二○八五年時台灣已賣給了迪斯奈公司，成為巨型遊樂園的故事。迪斯奈樂園是布西亞後現代主義一個重要的擬物理論模型，〈驚夢曲〉中的諸多事例印證了「模仿物即真實」的後現代真理。〈島嶼的名字〉故事敘述若干年後，台灣因地殼變動而消失於地表，劫後餘生唯一倖存的老人主角，孤獨而瘋狂地找尋台灣島嶼的落寞心情，呈現的是對這時代不確定的政治認同所產生的歷史焦慮感。〈台灣奇蹟〉則是這四篇小說最有份量也是最成功的一篇，平路運用諷刺模仿、魔幻寫實和後現代拼貼等技巧，想像隨著九○年代台灣經濟暴發，台幣強勁升值，在美國的場域裏所掀起的一股荒誕的「台灣化」潮流，這股怪流竟然可以無限地蔓延、膨脹、終於席捲全世界，造成世界中心輻聚於台灣一島的奇蹟。而〈虛擬台灣〉則以虛擬網路遊戲為掩飾，為台灣前途做了多重的政治預言。這四個故事分別從不同的角度書寫台灣，批判台灣，想像台灣，構塑台灣複雜的意像，也清楚標示了平路對台灣當時與未來各種議題的關懷。

Ping Lu is one of the greatest female writers in Taiwan at the present time. Since she has been especially prolific in the genre of postmodern fictions, this study will focus on her four postmodern short stories dealing with the image of Taiwan, including ”Nightmare,” and ”The Name of the Island,” ”The Miracle of Taiwan,” and ”Virtual Taiwan.” These stories, in which the picture of Taiwan appears in different shapes, are essentially satirical and allegorical.”Nightmare” is a short science fiction on the imaginary future of Taiwan in 2085, when Walt Disney Company purchases the island and builds a new Disneyland in it. Jean Baudrillard describes Disneyland as a perfect model of all the entangled orders of simulacra in his Simulacra and Simulation, and this story vindicates his theory. In another story about the future, ”The Name of the Island,” the island of Taiwan disappears and all Taiwanese perish except one old man as a result of a huge earthquake, in which all continents move, collide and merge into a big land eventually. The story reveals anxiety of uncertain future caused by undefined political identity of the island which is currently controversial. Among these stories, ”The Miracle of Taiwan” is most successful since it demonstrates Ping Lu's talent in satire and irony. By using burlesque, magic realism, and collage, Ping Lu exaggerates the effect of the phenomenon of ”Taiwanization,” which allegedly happened in the United States when Taiwan had enough economical strength to affect the whole world in 1980s. Finally, Ping Lu in ”Virtual Taiwan” indirectly predicts the dismal future of Taiwan in terms of its relation to China through a computer game.Although in these four stories she severely criticizes both Taiwanese society and Taiwanese, and distorts the image of Taiwan from different angles, Ping Lu manifests her concern about this island in her own way.
