陳丁奇書道教育精神

Spirit of Chen Ding-Qi's Calligraphy Education

摘要


台灣典範書家陳丁奇畢生致力於書藝創作、書論研究與書法教育,以書道薪傳為職志,對台灣書法教育的推展影響深遠。陳丁奇有感於現代書法教育不能再以師匠授徒方式為主,並整理出一套以受教者為立場的系統化書法教育理論與實際的教材教法;其書法教育的目標在於由書「法」而入於書「藝」,再進至書「道」。他以客觀與科學的方法教導學生奠定書法基礎,鼓勵學生以表現與創新的態度進行書藝創作,並以涵養全人格為書道教育的終極目標。陳丁奇的書法教育理念與教學方法,可以做為目前書法教育方針的訂定與書法教學實際的參考;他爲書法教育無私奉獻的風範與不斷追求進步的教育精神,實值得吾人省思與效法。

Chen Ding-Qi, an exemplary calligrapher in Taiwan, dedicated his life to the artistic creation, theoretical research, and education of calligraphy. Passing down principles of calligraphy was his calling in life, and his influence on the promotion of Taiwan's calligraphy education was profound. Aware of the fact that apprenticeship had become passé in modern calligraphy education, Chen developed a systematic theory for calligraphy education that is student-focused and devised pragmatic teaching materials and methods accordingly. The aim of Chen's calligraphy education is to guide students along the journey that moves from ”writing skills” and ”artistic expression” of calligraphy to ”spiritual principles (Dao)” of calligraphy. Chen employed objective and scientific ways to help students build a solid foundation for calligraphic creation. With his ultimate goal lying in the establishment of holistic characters, Chen encouraged students to adopt an expressionist and innovative attitude toward calligraphy. Chen Ding-Qi's educational philosophy and teaching methods will be invaluable reference points for the policy making and teaching of today's calligraphy education. Indeed, his selfless dedication to calligraphy education and constant pursuit of educational improvements merit consideration and emulation.
