Cultural Relativism: A Case Study of Beatrice Persson's Australian Aboriginal Art

This article aims to analyze a unique methodological concept "cultural relativism" put forward by Beatrice Persson, a researcher of contemporary art history in Sweden, focusing on the study of aboriginal art. This concept seeks to open up the issues of centralism and racism in Western European art history. Through five groups of "relativity", he re-examines the hot topics of post-colonial criticism. His delicate thinking level shows the possibility of the intersection of art history and anthropological methods, and outlines the unique "contemporary" and cross-cultural nature of Australia's Aboriginal art scene. This essay aims to analyze the key logic in "cultural relativity" to explore the characteristics and significance of the new art historical method it presents.
