現代日本の婚姻儀礼－人前結婚式の創造と質的変化

本論文は、日本の新しい結婚式の様式として創造された「オリジナル人前式」の成り立ちを明らかにするものである。ウェディングプランナーと婚礼司会者と儀礼当事者であるカップルが個々の創造性を発揮し、主体的に儀礼をつくりだす過程に焦点を当てることで、近年、著しく変容する日本の婚姻儀礼についての一考察とする。オリジナル人前式が創造された1990年代からブライダルビジネスに従事していた人々や、人前式を体験した人への聞き取り調査を基に分析を行った。その結果、オリジナル人前式における静的な構造と、儀礼の創造過程における仕組みを見出し、「かつての人前式」や聖職者の介在する結婚式との差異が明らかとなった。それは、儀礼当事者の「家族のストーリー」が存在し、それを儀礼参加者が理解し、その中で、婚姻成立を「承認」する点であった。

This study reveals the birth of ＂Original Public Wedding Ceremonies＂ that has become one of the mainstream weddings in Japan. Wedding planners, wedding moderators and wedding couples proactively participate in the creation of their wedding rituals with their own creativities. This style of weddings has gained popularities in the fast-changing wedding ceremonies in Japan. Original public wedding ceremonies started in the 1990s. The study was based on the survey from the people in the bridal businesses and couples who chose the public wedding ceremonies. As a result, the study identified the structure of the public weddings and creation of rituals and clarified the differences of the public weddings from the religious and other weddings. The public wedding ceremonies emphasize on the family histories and approve the marriage by the wedding participants.
