Kikuchi's disease, also known as histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis, is rarely seen clinically. It is often difficult to distinguish from head and neck cancers or metastases from lung cancer, as the appearance and palpitation observations are very similar. Patients often suffer recurrence or transformation into systemic lupus erythematosus or other auto-immune disease. Western medicine often provides supportive therapy. Chinese medicine is able to prevent further debilitation of disease and have great therapeutic effect, using pattern identification and treatment system, supporting right and dispelling evil, correcting hyperactive immune function, and suppressing infection.
