南崁地名沿革初探

南崁地區為北台灣原住民社群與外界接觸較早的區域之一，過去南崁地區的廣義範圍，可能包括了現今的桃園市蘆竹、龜山、八德等大部分地區。現今尚以「南崁」做為地名之區域為「南崁里」，行政區劃層級為村、里之四級行政區，僅屬於桃園市蘆竹區下轄之編組單位。目前對南崁地名命名由來的論述，大致有「地形方位說」與「音譯說」等兩種說法。目前學界與地方大多以「地形方位說」為論述主軸，說明該地名形成之原因。本文調查目前現存的史料，透過實際的踏查，整理了若干線索進行辯證思考，並嘗試以「音譯說」為思考主體，推論「南崁」地名由來的其他可能性答案，並期待對各族群早期接觸的過程中，所影響環境地景的變遷議題上，提供更多元的參考方向。

Nankan, a native community in the northern Taiwan, is one of the earliest regions that had contact with the outside world. In the past, the general term of Nankan might be included the current districts- Luzhu, Guishan and Bade in Taoyuan city Nowadays, ＂Nankan＂ is still used as a geographical name for ＂Nankan Village＂. Its administrative division class is village which is the fourth administrative district unit under Luzhu district in Taoyuan city. Today, there are two main theories as to the origin of the geographical name- Nankan, the topographic positional theory and the transliteration theory. Majority of the academic and the local fields tend to focus on the topographic positional theory to define the causes of development on this geographical name. By researching the existing historical documents, exploration, collecting and consulting lots of data. This article has associated with the process of dialectical thinking and pursuit transliteration theory as the focal point which inference some other possible answers of cause as to the origin of the geographic name of ＂Nankan＂. Going forward will also provide further reference regarding the issue of environmental changes affected by the early contacts of ethnics.
