新竹市j賓海紅樹林的資料迄今仍相當欠缺,所以選擇新竹市香山區海山罟紅樹林沼澤區,進行生態現況及水筆仔數量的調查是因為此地區即將因開闢道路而破壞,調查結果:水筆仔數量調查方面:海山罟紅樹林族群中個體數依生活地域不同而異,各區域的數量分別是堤岸內農田沼澤區1638株、堤岸內排水溝沼澤區336株、堤岸外潮流構沼澤區212株、堤岸外海濱沼澤區3160株。(1991年1月至6月平均調查結果)。此數據顯示接近堤岸外海沼澤區的族群大小數較堤岸內為高。動物相數量調查方面:本地區鳥類相以鷺科的候鳥最多,研究期間觀察記錄的鳥類有45類。魚類相以彈塗魚、吳郭魚、汙鰭鯔(豆仔魚)最為常見,研究期間觀察記錄的魚類有9種。貝類相以海蜷、文蛤和玉黍螺為多,研究期間觀察記錄的貝類有65種。螃蟹相以招潮蟹、隱蟹和濱蟹最為常見,研究期間觀察記錄的蟹類共計16類。海山罟紅樹林目前因位於西濱快速道路的預定地上而即將面臨設砍伐的惡運,建議上級暨施工單位在開路時應盡量保留堤外沼澤帶或沿著走岸外海濱沼澤區向外延伸移植出去並加以規劃栽植為完整的紅樹林,使紅樹林成為提供了各類海濱沼澤生物的棲息環境及作為學生和民眾戶外教學的大自然教室。
Mangrove swamps in Shin-Chu was located along the sea coast of Shin-Chu City, and has been Planning to be demolished by coastal highway road construction. However, the biological resources in this area has not been serveyed. During this study, I found that themangrove swamps in Shin-Chu were dominanted by Kandelia candel forest. Also, there was 135 species of anima1s occupying there. Of the 135 animal species,45 species are birds; 9 species are fishes, 65 species are shells and 16 species of crabs. Biodiversity within these area likely to be high. It was con c1uded that in many aspect, such as lowlandmanagement, forest regeneration, or wetland conservation may be highly valuable for education consideration. I suggest that the mangrove ecosystem in Shin-Chu county as well as in the other places of Taiwan, should be well preserved by government.
