The purpose of this paper is to collect and analyze the data of the Thao images which were taken during the Japanese colonial period and the time before 1945. In order to present the history from the tribal subjective narrative point of view, three main ideas are selected: ”land migration,” ”indigenous canoe”, and ”indigenous pestle voice”. After we interview the Thao elders in order to identify the historic photos, three overlapping images of the subject and its oral history are initiated. The research procedures are as follow: Firstly, we involve and classify a variety of sources of the Thao photos. Then, we select and interpret the responses from the elders by reading the photos, which are reference to their lifetime memory and the subjective narrative. The study found that most of the elders were able to make the photos from the narrative point of view related to their personal life experiences, memories and imaginations such as the representation of the time clues, historical events, and the environmental identifications, as well as the physical characteristics. Also, the results point out the narrative content that makes the results more clear after analyzing and re-interpreting the complexity, silence, and disorder of the images. These also appear from the past of the life and cultural characteristics, and help us to understand the changes of the traditional life domain, life pattern, and the performance fields that are influenced under the Japanese colonial rule.
