Electric stun guns are a practicable option for police officers facing violent situations, and some have been equipped for duty use since 2016 in Taiwan. Until now, there is no one armed with stun guns used force. However, when the National Police Agency and the relevant police departments focus on the effectiveness and fight for budget to increase the number of devices, it is necessary to design the supporting mechanism. This study reviews the policy background of the introduction of stun guns. Referring to the advantages and disadvantages by foreign police's using experience. And discusses the relevant domestic legal aspects involved. Finally, the three different stages of the use of stun guns "before, now and after" may face challenges, and corresponding suggestions to meet the actual operational requirements of the police.
