The Broken Windows Policing is based on the connotation of Wilson and Kelling's Broken Windows Theory, and the police strategy is also an application of the same theory as well. The Broken Windows Theory was inspired by the Broken Windows Effect experiment conducted by Zimbardo. This paper introduces the Broken Windows Effect, the Broken Windows Theory, the connotation of Broken Windows Policing, and finally discusses the Broken Windows Policing promoted by the New York City Police Department - the "Zero Tolerance" strategy.
