Influence of Satisfaction with Member of Parliament Service Centers on Voting Behavior - A Case Study of New Taipei City, Taiwan

摘要

The legislative elections in Taiwan are characterized by intense competition among candidates. To achieve favorable outcomes, candidates invest significant effort in elucidating their political plans and enhancing constituents' satisfaction with their service centers. This study aimed to explore comprehensively the demographic factors of the individuals seeking assistance from the service center provided by their elected members of parliament. Following this, a cross-sectional analysis was conducted involving these demographic variables and service-seeking behaviors. Subsequently, an assessment of service center satisfaction was undertaken, scrutinizing various dimensions of contentment to discern whether they positively influenced voting behavior. This study developed a questionnaire to assess service center satisfaction. Using a methodology focused on personal interviews, a comprehensive survey was conducted within a specific timeframe, resulting in a dataset of 403 valid responses. The findings revealed areas within the service center that required enhancement, including addressing parking constraints, refining the attire and demeanor of service personnel, and striving for greater satisfaction compared to other service centers. All dimensions of participants' satisfaction had a positive and significant impact on their voting behavior. An intriguing finding from the research was the unexpected importance of the service center's environment in relation to individuals' voting behavior, surpassing the influence of service quality.
