Current National Taiwan University is derived from a combination of three schools, Taihoku Medical College, Taihoku Imperial University, Taihoku Economic College in the Japanese colonial period. These schools cultivated many elites in the colony who in return became the vanguard of resisting the Japanese regime in pursuit of justice in Taiwan society. In 1945, Japan retroceded Taiwan to the Republic of China, which in turn became the ruling regime in Taiwan. Numerous youths from National Taiwan University participated in various activities of social reform in expectation of a new-born society. Unfortunately, under the Kuomintang ruling power, the youth fell a sacrifice to political purges in the period of White Terror, and were going to overwhelmed by people's fear of politics forever.
