"Owen" by Kevin Henkes is a picture book of the Caldecott Medal. The story reflects the dependence of most children on a certain object. Most of their dependence on item stems from their sense of security, familiarity and intimacy. The main character of the story, Owen, relies heavily on his blanket and always wants to be with the blanket as a toy and playmate. Facing the dilemma of taking a blanket to kindergarten, Owen's parents came up with a series of ways to make Owen 'quit' the blanket. However, those methods did not work. Thus, mom came up with a good idea for Owen neither loses the blanket nor faces a dilemma in kindergarten.
