Synthesis of Nanocrystalline Magnesium Ferrites Powder from Mill Scale

並列摘要

Nano-crystalline magnesium ferrites powder were synthesized using mill scale via classical ceramic route. The effect of annealing temperature and Mg:Fe molar ratios (0.5, 0.55 and 0.65) on the formation of MgFe_2O_4 were studied. The results showed that the mole ratio of Mg/Fe and the annealing temperature were factors affecting the formation of MgFe_2O_4 in pure form. The magnesium ferrite formed were accompanied by a percentage of the iron oxide for the Mg:Fe=0.5 and 0.55 for all studied annealing temperatures. The presence of iron oxide is very high at annealing temperature 1000oC and highly decreased with the raise of annealing temperature. A single phase of MgFe_2O_4 was formed at Mg:Fe=0.65 at 2 00℃. The nanocrystalline size of the prepared MgFe_2O_4 phase prepared was in the range of 170nm had good magnetic properties with maximum saturation magnetization (36.64 emu/g) at Mg/Fe mole ratio 0.65 and 1300℃.
