過敏(allergy)為人體接觸環境中部份對一般人影響不大的過敏原因子後,所引發的一系列過度反應的現象,包含過敏性鼻炎、食物過敏、蕁麻疹、異位性皮膚炎、哮喘與全身型過敏性反應等。大約15%的人具有激活過敏基因表現以對抗煙塵、花粉、蟲毒或其分泌物、藥物、特定食物等,暴露在這些物質中就會引發IgE抗體的產生而形成立即過敏反應。蟬花是麥角菌科蟲草屬真菌,為名貴傳統中藥材,具有調節免疫力、鎮痛解熱、抑制腫瘤、明目等功效,且已有市售蟬花精華液及面膜等化妝品商品,顯示其已具市場應用潛力。本研究以蟬花菌絲體發酵液凍乾粉萃取物進行免疫球嗜中性粒細胞(basophils)致敏/抑敏分析,由實驗結果顯示,大蟬花及小蟬花之5 mg/mL水萃取物以及大蟬花與小蟬花0.5 mg/mL醇萃取物對於免疫細胞(RBL-2H3)皆無細胞毒性。另外,亦發現大蟬花萃取物具有抑制免疫細胞免疫反應中去顆粒(degranulation)之能力。大蟬花菌絲體發酵液凍乾粉水萃物於5 mg/mL劑量可抑制β-hexosaminidase達100%,而其醇萃物於0.5 mg/mL劑量具有34%抑敏效果,顯示蟬花菌絲體發酵液凍乾粉具有抗過敏能力而具有減輕過敏反應之潛力。
Allergy is a hyperactive immune reaction to allergens, causing symptoms such as rhinitis, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, and asthma. Approximately 15% of people are allergic to antigens such as soot, pollen, worm secretions, and certain kinds of drugs and foods. These antigens can trigger the production of IgE antibodies and anaphylactic response. Cordyceps cicadae is a fungus infecting insects. It is also a valuable Chinese medicinal material that has been shown to have effects in regulating immunity, suppressing inflammation, inhibiting tumor growth, and improving eyesight. Recently, it has been used to produce commercialized essence and face masks. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anti-allergic activity of the freeze-dried powder of Cordyceps cicadae mycelium fermentation broth. Results showed that the powder could decrease the degranulation of mast cells. The water extract of the powder at a dose of 5 mg/ml was found to completely inhibit β-hexosaminidase release from mast cells, and its ethanol extract was found to desensitize 34% of the mast cells at a dose of 0.5 mg/ml. These results suggest that Cordyceps cicadae mycelium fermentation broth powder has anti-allergy activity and can potentially be used to alleviate allergic reactions.
