A Design Methodology of Volumetric Error Analysis and Error Budget for Machine Tools

並列摘要

The design methodology of the machine tools for reducing the volumetric errors is presented. Volumetric errors are the positional errors of the cutting points in space representing the accuracy of the machine tool. These volumetric errors are derived from the geometric errors of each axis, including the squareness errors, angular errors, and straightness errors, based on the Abbe principle. The geometric errors of each axis are mainly caused by the fabrication and installation errors. The volumetric error model of a particular precision machine tool developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan has been studied. By using the error budget method, we can find the most cost-effective way to allocate the limit value of each geometric error of 3-axis as the guideline of installation in order to control the total volumetric errors of the machine tool.
