本文的目的在驗證問題如下:給定產業聚集區域下,何種新創企業型態較傾向於選擇坐落於聚集區域內。研究產業聚集的文獻主要討論與廠商本身特性並沒有關聯的聚集形成、地區特性與聚集、地區政策與廠商區位的選擇等。然本文從廠商的特性出發,討論在給定的產業聚集區域下,哪些特性的廠商將選擇坐落於聚集區域內。本文以2001年工商普查中的電子產業為研究對象,針對新創企業的區位選擇加以討論,並著重在廠商的生產型態、經營型態、研發型態等對於廠商區位選擇的影響。我們發現,新創企業中,廠商規模越大、外銷傾向越高、代工生產型、以及偏重製造型者,皆越會傾向於選擇在聚集區內設廠,但自產自銷型者則否。
This paper focuses on the location choice of a new firm concerning with its own characteristics given the cluster areas of the industry. Former studies about industry clusters concentrated on the formation of a cluster, the relationship between the regional characteristics and clusters, and the relationship between regional policies and the firms' location choice. To link the omitted part of existing literature, we focus on that a new firm what the characteristics will choose to locate in the industry cluster areas by using the data of Taiwan's electronic industry from the "Industry, Commerce and Service Census" in 2001. We categorize firms' attributes into three aspects: production pattern, management pattern, and the research and development (R&D) pattern. Our empirical results show that the firms with larger firm size, higher exporting orientation, higher proportion of original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and the higher manufacturing orientation are with a higher probability to locate in the cluster areas, but not the ones with higher proportion of self-marketing.
