香茅油203件,以統計數學法算出比重平均值為0.8898,香茅醛含量平均值為39.88%。該批香茅油中No. 163之比重及醛含量各為d_(15)^(15)0.8898與39.85%,可用為相對容量計算之依據。本相對容量法應用於30件香茅油,其結果與Stillmann法比較,誤差在1%以內。
Two hundred and three samples of citronella oil were collected from various districts of Taiwan and their average density and citronellal content were calculated to be 0.8898 and 39.88%, respectively; by statistic method. The properties of No. 163 sample, d_(15)^(15) 0.8898 and citronellal 39.85%, were entirely in agreement with the average values and could be used as the basis of determination. The citronellaI content of unknown oil was calculated by the relation: citronellal % = 39.85x/y, where x and yare the volume of hydroxylamine solution consumed by the unknown and the No. 163, respectively. The-method was tested with 30 samples and the results showed the maximum error of 1% in comparison with the Stillmann method.
