Due to the rapid development in many fronts of chemistry and related fields in recent years, the numerical and factual information of chemical substances have been accumulating in an ever-increasing rate. It would be impossible to keep up with latest development in any field without the help of some kind of electronic journals retieval or electronic numerical database systems. In recent years the chemical information industry and services also evolve rapidly, new information contents and delivering technologies are developed and deployed, the advanced information retrieval tools have changed the way we conduct our research prodoundly. National chemical database service is a crucial component of the infrastructure for science and technology development in a country. With a limited budget, the chemical database service at National Center for High Performance Computing (NCHC) attempts to reduce the information gap between our country and others, so local scientists are on the same footing with scientists of other countries. The article describes the recent development of the chemical information services in general, and the services provided by NCHC in particlar. The usage and the impact of the database services of the past 5 years is reviewd.
