Biotin is a water-soluble vitamin, generally classified as a B-complex vitamin. It helps in the synthesis of fatty acids, in energy metabolism, and in the synthesis of amino acids and glucose. Biotin is nowadays an important compound that is used as additives to food and cosmetics, vitamin, health foods and as labeling agent with proteins and nucleic acids. The aim of this article is to review the recent successful applications of biotin in a number of industrial products.
