黃芩是從中藥黃芩提取物中的類黃酮成分之一,以往的研究報告指出黃芩具有多項藥理活性,包括抗菌活性、抗發炎作用、抗自由基引起的氧化壓力、抑制血管新生作用與抗腫瘤活性。然而,截至目前為止,黃芩是否具有任何肌膚保養功效,則不曾有任何研究報導。本研究嘗試探討黃芩對於人類惡性黑色素細胞瘤細胞生長的影響情形,以及細胞中酪胺酸活性的變化。初步的研究結果顯示,黃芩會抑制惡性黑色素細胞瘤的生長,分別以不同濃度的黃芩處理細胞後,腫瘤細胞的存活率有明顯下降的趨勢,並且黃芩是以劑量決定性的方式抑制此兩種細胞的生長,另一方面,以80μM濃度的黃芩(baicalin)處理黑色素細胞瘤細胞24小時後,酪胺酸活性也有下降的趨勢,這意味著黃芩可能具有美白功效,未來將進一步探討黃芩美白可能的分子機轉,繼而評估將黃芩應用於開發美白相關化妝品的可能性。
Baicalin is a flavonoid compound derived from Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi that is used as a traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Baicalin has been studied for its multiple pharmacological activities including anti-microbial activity、anti-inflammation action、anti- free-radicals-induce oxygen stress、 inhibition of angiogenesis and anti-tumor activity. However, it has not been reported whether baicalin show skin care effects or not. The present study is to elucidate the effects of baicalin on the proliferation of human malignant melanoma cell line, and on the activity of tyrosinase. The preliminary results show that baicalin inhibit the proliferation of the melanoma cells in a dose-dependent manner. On the other way, the tyrosinase activity of melanoma cells decreased after treatment with 80 μΜ baicalin for 24 hours, which indicates the potential de-pigmentation function of baicalin. The future work will focus on the elucidation of the molecular mechanism of de-pigmentation action of baicalin. Furthermore, we will also evaluate the possibility of application of baicalin in developing whitening cosmetic products.
