東漢末年黃巾起義,摧垮兩漢王朝統一的政治局面。因而出現了三國鼎立的暫時分裂。曹魏政權在當時是三國中最強大的,它企圖重建統一的封建統治秩序,但它既要對付蜀、吳政權,又要處理其政權內部各政治集團之間的複雜矛盾。正始年間,曹魏政權內部的曹氏集團與司馬氏集團之間的爭權鬥爭開始日趨激烈。「正始玄風」以遠離社會現實的玄談形式,企圖從理論上論證這些社會現實的複雜及矛盾歸結於「虛無」,因此不要為這些矛盾所牽累,使精神進入一個沒有任何矛盾衝突的境界。王弼回答裴徽「貴無」的一段話,正反映玄學所以提倡「貴無」理論的社會政治原因。本論文試著從當時社會中幾位與王弼交遊的人物,去探討王弼這位玄學大師的生平與思想。
