Composite Shaft Optimization Using Simulated Annealing, Part II: Strength and Stresses

摘要

Part I of this paper deals with natural frequency optimization. In Part II, shaft weight is minimized with the constraints imposed on the natural frequency obtained from Part I, shaft buckling .torque and strength criteria. The shafts are subjected to unbalance excitation and transmitted torque. Tsai-Wu (Quadratic Failure Criteria) is adopted in the formulation. Optimization is further extended to reduce stresses along the shaft axial length in an attempt to obtain uniform stresses. Similar to that of Part I, shaft of uniform/ variable (UV), variable/uniform (VU), and variable/variable (VV) fiber layup and wall thickness are analyzed.
