當代的遠古－聖石始祖傳說與正名運動
Ancient in Present: Sacred Stone Legends and Name Rectification Movement
摘要
本文旨在探討當代族群運動與始祖傳說的關聯，針對賽德克與泰雅兩族的「聖石始祖傳說」的象徵意涵，以及在當代族群重建及正名運動的再詮釋。本文主要內容有關泰雅族與賽德克兩族的始祖傳說與聖石信仰，採用日本學者、民族學者及考古學者，即所謂圈外人（outsider）的調查研究文獻，以及圈內人（insider）族裔的口述詮釋，呈現兩族的始祖傳說與地理淵源的差異存在，並根據個人的多年參與訪調，瞭解當代族裔如何結合聖石信仰，以此展開族群認同、文化重建與正名運動，例如舉辦尋根活動、重返高山之聖石，舉行祖靈祭典等；並進一步探討聖石信仰的神聖意義在當代社會政治與脈絡中的延伸詮釋，提出始祖傳說在族群運動的深層意義。本文並且論及相關研究觀點的再檢討，William E. Paden 回溯從十九世紀末的學術運動對於宗教的比較研究，影響至今日對於傳統宗教生活的各種型態的跨文化研究，看到人類心靈的基本活動的相同性與差異性。由此可知，跨文化的研究，是需慎選有意義的比較，慮及比較研究的主題和方法，包含縱向層面的歷史累積，以及橫向各種不同地區、不同傳統的宗教的特定主題，方能更深入比較各地民族及社群的普同性與差異性。

This article aims to explore contemporary ethnic movement associated with the legend of ancestor, and to reinterpret the ＂Legend of the Sacred Stone,＂ as well as reconstruction of contemporary ethnic and name rectification movement. On the use of insider and outsider's point of view, showing a difference of Atayal and Seediq ancestor legends and geographical origin. In addition, according to the author's fieldwork to understand contemporary ethnic how to combine the sacred stone of faith, in order to expand the ethnic identity, cultural reconstruction and Name Rectification Movement; and to explore the significance of Sacred Stone faith in the contemporary socio-political context to further propose its meaning in ethnic movements.
