Numerical Study of the Energy and Mass Transfers in Solar Drying Systems of a Wooden Pile with and without Thermal Storage

摘要

The work presented in this article is a contribution to the theoretical study of the solar drying of the wood planks arranged in thick bed for the climatic conditions of Tangier (Morocco). The study is realized from mathematical models obtained by writing the energy and mass conservation law in the solar dryer constituted of a solar air collector multi-passes provided with finned absorber attached to a drying cabinet and a thermal storage unity. The mathematical equations obtained were solved by the method of finite differences implicit, associated with the volume control technical. The simulations are realized by exploiting experimental measures of the solar radiation and the ambient temperature of a typical day in Tangier. In contrast, for the storage and drying, the real thermophysical properties of granite (material storage) and scotch pine wood were adopted. The obtained results show the mechanism of solar drying of the wood in thick bed on the performances of the drying system.
