'Natural theology' and 'theology of nature' are two attempts at combining theology and science, nature and grace. Theology of nature, moreover, is the product of the necessity of an ethics of ecology. As the crisis of nature has rung a bell for the existence of mankind theology is faced with the twofold task of drafting an ethics of ecology and a theology of nature. The history of theology is not without a tendency to depreciate nature. Natural theology had already had a long history when the process of theological reflection on the relation between nature and theology began. Presently, after changing direction towards theory of consciousness, there is no longer a clear line of distinction between nature and our awareness of nature, between experience and intellect/reason. There is no longer room for any independent existence of natural theology, since it should be incorporated in a theology of nature. Theology of nature puts emphasis on the immanence of God. It recognizes the world as beautiful but also see the enigma, the miracles and immeasurableness of nature which defy systematization. Theology of nature makes its contribution towards establishing a kind of ethical moral of ecology. The theology of nature is even identical with the needs [established by] scientific evidence. The God of theology of nature does not crudely break off the laws of nature nor link up cracks and crevices in the natural order which should have originally been linked up by natural causes. If humankind studies and recognizes God in nature and furthermore nature in God, then humankind will live in accordance with nature.
