Abstracts
一九三〇年十月二十三日，蔣介石在上海「秘密」受洗，但消息卻不脛而走。南京國民政府事後進行新聞管制，導致國民黨控制的報刊「集體失聲」。西方新聞通訊社率先曝光，海外報刊第一時間報導，蔣介石信教背後的政治含義成為輿論關注的焦點。國內報刊出現嚴厲批判和極力辯護兩種聲音，顯示國家元首「基督化」激起的社會衝擊。上海地區小報利用英文報紙公開報導和中文大報鴉雀無聲的「信息差」，通過故事化的形式極盡揶揄諷刺。包括國民黨政要在內的大多數人的不滿與批判，呈現了基督教作為西方「文化侵略」的象徵在近代中國的境遇。蔣介石受洗後的中外輿論表明，南京政府與基督教的關係相當複雜，透過現代高度發達的新聞傳播機制，政治與宗教的糾葛被極度放大。

On 23 October 1930, CHIANG Kai-shek was baptized "secretly" in Shanghai, but the news quickly spread. The Nanjing National Government subsequently imposed a news control, causing the Kuomintang-controlled newspapers to "collectively lose their voices." Western news agencies were the first to expose the incident, and overseas newspapers reported and commented on it at the first time. The political implications behind CHIANG Kai-shek's religious conversion became the focus of public attention. Uncontrolled newspapers across China had two diametrically opposed opinions, one of harsh criticism and the other vigorously defending him, thus showing the social impact aroused by the Christianization of the head of state. The tabloids in Shanghai took advantage of the "information gap" between the open reports of English newspapers and the silence in the Chinese newspapers, and then presented this sensational news in the form of a story, with extreme ridicule and irony, which reflected the image of the top leaders of the Kuomintang in the minds of the people. The dissatisfaction and criticism of the incident by most people, including Kuomintang politicians, showed the situation of Christianity which was seen as a symbol of Western "cultural aggression" in modern Chinese society. The trend of public opinion at home and abroad after CHIANG Kai-shek was baptized showed that the relationship between the Nanjing government and Christianity was quite complicated. Through the modern highly developed news dissemination mechanism, the political and religious entanglements contained therein were greatly magnified.
