The May 30th movement of 1925 was not only an important component of China's New Democratic Revolution, but also served as an excitant that mobilized Overseas Chinese into an anti-imperialist and patriotic movement that marked a milestone in their history. After receiving the news of killing Chinese compatriots in Shanghai and Guangzhou by Japanese and British, Overseas Chinese in the Americas were infuriated and launched a salvation campaign for their motherland. The patriotic media, such as The Young China and The Chinese Times, played a crucial role in agitating and organizing the general public.
