This article was written in response to the current issue theme, "The Treatment of Domestic Violence Perpetrators in Correctional Institutions," and primarily introduces the implementation of foreign systems. It outlines the domestic violence prevention strategies developed in Japan, with a focus on the actual situation of perpetrators undergoing correctional treatment within institutions. First, the article introduces the basic concept of domestic violence and the birth of specialized laws, clarifying relevant terminology and legal background. Next, it provides a detailed explanation of the types and content of correctional treatment that perpetrators receive within institutions, with particular attention to the application and changes of "rehabilitative guidance." Finally, using KUROBANE Prison as an example, the article discusses recent practical operations and concludes with some preliminary observations.
