本小論聚焦於探究「蠟筆小新」這個非理想兒童典型的動漫幼童角色,溯往其誕生的舞台,追蹤其越出日本國界風行海外的現象,並試圖解讀潛藏其背後時代兒童觀的變貌。《蠟筆小新》是一部以五歲幼稚園兒童野原新之助為主角的漫畫,主角小新出言不遜、頑皮又愛惡作劇,原著於1990年8月開始在日本的《週刊漫畫動感》(雙葉社)刊出,是漫畫家臼井儀人(1958~2009)的搞笑類作品,至2010年7月為止,總共出版了50集的單行本。1992年4月13日開始以電視動畫的形式在日本朝日電視台週一晚間7點播出。1993年4月上映第一部劇場版動畫電影長片,到2013年4月為止共有21部劇場版作品。漫畫、電視動畫與劇場版動畫都輸出日本海外,使「蠟筆小新」成為誕生於日本平成年代,聲名遠播至海外的幼童角色。重要的研究發現如下。■因為誕生於青年(成人)為閱讀對象的漫畫雜誌,蠟筆小新因而可以輕鬆掙脫理想兒童的形象,逸脫一般幼兒角色行為規範的束縛。■其流行的背後可窺見這二十年間,因應讀者與閱聽大眾的欲求,漫畫創作者與動畫製作,在故事類型與角色型塑上做了若干修改。■雖然在日本國內外獲得商業上的成功,此作品在教育上對於兒童可能造成的不良影響,不斷引起爭論。■其在世界多國流行的現象,可解讀為當今大人對於孩童絕對的權威與權力已被撼搖。
This study focuses on the birth, development and profound impact of a Japanese cartoon character named Crayon Shin-chan who was a boy of five years old. Crayon Shin-chan first appeared in a Japanese weekly Magazine called Weekly Manga Action, which is published by Futabasha. The anime Crayon Shin-chan has been on TV Asahi since April 13, 1992, and on several television networks, worldwide. Many of the jokes in the series stem form Shin-chan's occasionally weird, unnatural and inappropriate use of language, as well as from his inappropriate behavior. Which in spite of its great business success, causes furious argument in many countries. The critical finding s of this study are as follows. ■Its emergence on a cheeky comics magazine excludes itself from the normal expectation of an ideal, well-behavior kid, and consequently, gives it more flexibility to develop stories with less limitation. ■It has been strategically evolved its styles, characters and story pattern to attract broader segments of readers and audience in past decades, which proves to be a great success. ■Despite its great business success, the argument about its negative impact to children's education and behavior never ends. ■It's popularity in different cultures can be interpreted as a global phenomenon that absolute authority of adults upon children is shaking.
