In order to achieve the required mechanical properties, heat treatment processes are commonly introduced to metallic production to adjust hardness, strength and metallurgy. Recently, open-source analysis tools and packaged simulation software could be used to perform heat treatment simulation. Furthermore, the influence of alloy compound on the hardness and phase fractions through different heat treatment processes such as quenching, tempering, carburization or nitriding, and surface hardening can be predicted. In this study, the simulation capability of different software is evaluated, and demo cases are presented to illustrate the prediction capability of hardness and phase fractions under different cooling conditions.
