Both the industrial digital twin and the product life cycle face the same cross-company issues, and barriers to cross-company product data always exist. The premise of life cycle digitization is that there should be no cross-company data barriers. But as long as there is a transaction, the product life cycle will cross the company. Therefore, an expectation is derived: through industrial digital twins, product data can pass through cross-company barriers. This expectation is the entry point of this article, mainly trying to find out the cross-company difficulties in the digitalization of product life cycle from the literature, and the new international proposals for using emerging industrial digital twins in the product life cycle.
