The present study aims at an investigation on the concept and domain of wen 文 in the "Daya 大雅" section of the Book of Songs. Wen means "humanities," and the Book of Songs names wen only those creations of man that are from the hands of the virtuous, and the most representative of all is the wen from the Zhou 周 dynasty. This article therefore aims at discussing, through interpretations of some of the poems of Daya, several themes that have connections with wen: man's true subjectivity, the meaning and the upholding of communities, the value of civilisations, etc. The author has included in her study problems like the right paths for the formations of civilisations, e.g. the problem of marriages, the differences between the education of males and females, etc. in her present work.
