Moraxella osloensis Bacteremia in a 73-Year-Old Woman with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

摘要

Background. Moraxella osloensis infections are rare. Most cases are associated with underlying medical conditions. Methods. We present the clinical history, physical findings, and laboratory results of a 73-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes mellitus and M. osloensis bacteremia. Results. The patient presented to our hospital with fever and lethargy. The urinalysis showed pyuria. Escherichia coli was found in the urine culture. The blood culture yielded M. osloensis. Cefazolin was administered to the patient intravenously. Her fever subsided after treatment. Conclusion. Although a rare pathogen, M. osloensis may cause systemic infection, particularly in immunocompromised hosts, including patients with diabetes mellitus.
