星雲大師以臨濟子孫，宣導「人間生活禪」，在當代世界範圍內推廣人間佛教。其談禪有殊味，上追釋迦，遠紹慧能，自覺不自覺地確立了心體、本用、破除分別的方法以及般若慧觀的終極追求；重在生、重在人、重在人間、重在現實、重在當下、重在心性、重在綜合與創新；激揚蹈厲，實現了對臨濟宗風的現代詮釋與傳承。

As a descendent of the Linji Lineage, Venerable Master Hsing Yun promotes Humanistic Living Chan and propagates Humanistic Buddhism in the contemporary world. His unique expression of Chan traces back to Sakyamuni Buddha and succeeds that of Huineng, thereby unknowingly established his own essence and practice. Furthermore, he eliminated the discriminative approach and introduced an ultimate pursuit of prajna wisdom. He focuses on life, people, human world, reality, the present moment, mind-nature, integration, and innovation. As a result, he has offered a contemporary interpretation and lineage of the Linji School.
